Matthew 28:16-20

16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.

17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.

Witnessing is a fundamental mark of discipleship. A true disciple of Christ must be willing to witness for Him as He has commanded. In Luke 10:23-24, the Bible says, “And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see: For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.” A witness tells others all that he has seen and heard.

As believers, we must always realise that we were saved to serve. We must take the Great Commission seriously. Soul winning is the heartbeat of God and we cannot afford to neglect it. Dearly beloved, when last did you evangelise? How many souls have you won for Christ in the last one year? Do you follow up and see to the discipleship of souls? Many are caught in the web of rat race and distractions of life. If you are a true disciple of Christ, you will take witnessing and soul winning very seriously.

There are several effective strategies you can employ in order to witness for Christ. First, you can lead people to Christ by sharing your story with them. Your conversion story, positive lifestyle change story and so on can be used by the Holy Spirit to convict people and win them for the Master. Secondly, you can lead people to Christ by sharing the gospel with them. The word of God is spirit and life. It is sharper than any two-edged sword. It has great power to convert a heart of stone to a heart of flesh. In addition, you can lead people to Christ by helping them to deal with problems, obstacles and objections in their lives. Finally, you can lead people to Christ by mentoring them and helping them to grow in their faith.

Finally, witnessing for Christ is a command, not an advice. Give your all to it. You will receive huge blessings from God.
